First established in 1995, Ralph Fowler Wines is a 7-ha vineyard, winery, and cellar door in Mount Benson. The first Ralph Fowler Wines vintage from grapes grown on the property was a 1997 Shiraz, and our cellar door opened for tastings and sales in 1999. The Cellar Door facility is tucked away in the vineyard and offers an intimate look into artisan winemaking.
We have a very traditional style to both our vineyard and winery aspects of our business, incorporating traditional growing methods, handpicking, pruning and basket pressing. Traditional winemaking methods showcase distinctive wines with a house style that is uniquely Ralph Fowler. The wines have varietal expression and are reflective of the terroir not only of the region but of their vineyard.

Our limestone-based soil is described as Terra Rosa and is associated with premium quality wines.
The cold waters of the Great Southern Ocean result in a cool strongly maritime climate which is important for flavour development and quality.

All our vines are handpicked to maximise every opportunity to make world-class wine by eliminating fruit damage & macerated flavours.

All our wines are naturally fermented in small open fermenters which allow intimate control of the fermentation process.
Basket pressing follows giving superior quality wine before the wines are finished through traditional ageing in French oak barrels.
