This limited wine is released as a testimonial to Ralph’s 50 years of winemaking. Only 1200 bottles were made from the exceptional 2015 vintage. Only the perfect bunches were individually selected and handpicked before gentle destemming and partial crushing. After a whole berry fermentation was carried out in specially prepared French Oak barrels, an extented maceration time of 10 weeks was allowed before a gentle basket press, taking only the best drainings. The wine was returned to the same barrels for ageing before bottling. The wine is powerful and delivers on multiple fronts ripe, rich and high in alcohol, while still supple, fine and elegant. Intriguing aromas with strong berry characters made complex by notes of cedar, antique leather, earthiness and roasted cashew. The mouth filling flavours are rich in fruity characters and herbal complexities, showing the unique Merlot tannin that is fine yet strong.
